Each week in The Wisdom of Change blog series, I share the original artwork and unpack the insights and meaning behind one of the 44 cards in The Wisdom of Change oracle deck.

This week’s card is 32 Intuition

‘You are off the charts intuitive!’ she said as I sat frozen in front of the deeply curious audience.

I’d asked a question of a speaker at a coaching seminar and before I knew it, I was up on the stage, perched precariously on a stool, feeling incredibly exposed and vulnerable.  I’d unwittingly become the subject of a live demonstration to showcase how she worked with her clients.  This experince happened at the start of my self-styled journey of exploration into how to lead a life less ordinary and it seemed to be delivering on that front at least!

It never ceases to amaze me how we discover deeply pivotal insights about ourselves.  For me, the path of self-discovery was peppered with extraordinary events, people and places.  It has been my greatest life adventure and I wouldn’t have it any other way, but to this day, I am deeply amused and unendingly grateful for what I continue to uncover about myself.

Increasing self-awareness has been a lynch pin in my ability to create change for the better in my life.

Learning to recognise, hear, trust and act upon my intuition (inner wisdom if you will) continues to be life changing.  We are all intuitive to the extent to which we allow ourselves to be.  Initially I thought ‘intuitive abilities’ were something used by psychics, tarot readers and mind reading acts.  I’d never thought of intuition being useful for people like me in a mainstream job to help me navigate life successfully and joyfully on a day to day basis.

Over the past decade, I’ve come to know my intuition as the exquisitely accurate and delightfully counterintuitive navigation system that it is.  It has helped me to relinquish my reliance on the logical, the tangible and the predictable (all of which have their place), but in the absence of the guidance of my inner knowing, has me playing small, lacking creative expression, feeling trapped and spinning my wheels.

Knowing I could tap into my intuition to find creative solutions and exciting insights for the road ahead, felt like I had been gifted a magical superpower.  I wasted no time at all taking my newfound navigation instrument for a test drive.  I was hooked by the fun, in awe of the insights and delighted by the results.

Learning to the hear the seemingly ‘illogical’ nudges from your inner knowing and trusting yourself to follow the cosmic breadcrumbs can feel deeply unsafe at first.  I only gave myself permission to explore how to work with my inner wisdom when my back was against the wall and life had become so challenging that I hardly had anything to lose!  If I’d known then what I know now about how beneficial acting on my intuitive voice would be, I’d have followed it’s guidance much sooner and trusted myself more completely.

So if you are feeling stuck, lacking excitement, wondering ‘where next’ or find yourself faced with a seemingly ‘impossible to resolve’ problem, tune in.  The universe has heard your hearts desires and invites you to follow the path of your intuition towards your goals.

If you’re not sure you are hearing your intuition and find it hard to decipher it from the other types of voices you can hear, feel free to get in touch and I’ll help you out 🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s connection to your inner wisdom.

As always, I’d love to hear your comments below.
